Staff Biographies
Melvia Golson
Ministry Assistant and Office Manager
Mrs. Melvia Jo Golson was born in Prattville, Alabama. She is a graduate of Alabama State University, with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Mrs. Golson worked along side her husband, Pastor William T. Golson Jr., to start True Light Baptist Church twenty years ago. She knows Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior and she loves to share His Word.
Today, she works full-time at the church where she serves as Ministry Assistant and Office Manager. She also assists the Pastor with providing leadership for the various ministries.
Additionally, Mrs. Golson serves as Youth Minister for the youth department. Under her leadership, the church formed a Youth Support Group made up of active parents. She was instrumental in organizing a worship service just for youth in grades 6-12 that meet each Sunday at 11 a.m. Mrs. Golson also helped to establish the second Sunday of each month as Youth Sunday.
Mrs. Golson has served in various ministries in the church. Because of her love for music, she was helped to start the music ministry at True Light and served as Minister of Music for nine years.
Rev. Vincent Lewis
Associate Pastor of Christian Education
Rev. Vincent Lewis was called to the ministry at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Honolulu, Hawaii in July 1989. He was ordained at True Light Baptist Church in March of 1993. After retiring from the military in 2001, he became part of the full time staff at True Light and currently serves as the Associate Pastor of Christian Education.
Rev. Lewis earned a bachelor’s degree from Wayland Baptist University with a minor in Christian services and graphic design. He earned a Master of Arts Degree in Religion from Liberty Baptist Seminary.
Rev. Lewis oversees, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, Marriage Ministry, Singles Ministry, Bible Study and the Puppet Ministry. He also plans the educational program for the church by selecting curriculum and training the teachers.
Rev. Lewis and his wife Dianne have three children, Jared, Justin and Janelle.
Romona R. Dailey
Children’s Ministry
Romona R. Dailey serves as the Director of Children’s Ministry at True Light Baptist Church and is responsible for providing the overall leadership for our the Children’s Ministry.
Since September 2002, Romona has effectively managed the services provided to our congregation and visitors by the Nursery, served as the Director of Children’s Church, served as the AWANA Commander, as well as planned and directed all special programs for our children ages 3 months through 5 th grade. In addition, Romona is responsible for the outreach to children of our community through our sponsorship of The Sky’s The Limit summer day camp and also through our Gospel on the Green evangelistic effort.
Romona believes that our children are our future and that it is most important that we reach every boy and girl that we can with the gospel of Christ, and train them to serve Him.
Minister Michael Williams
Minister of Music
Michael Williams is a man who loves to encourage, inspire and uplift as a performer, composer, producer, director, arranger, educator, and most of all, a worshipper. With over 30 years of experience and education, he has mastered music performance, theory, education, industry and ministry (in all genres of music).
In addition to serving as the Minister of Music at True Light, Michael is the founder, director and instructor of Kingdom Music Center, where he teaches hundreds of students in music education, performance and theory.
Michael is also the Founder and Director of Eternal Life Gospel Choir, whose debut CD, “My Purpose” (featuring Madea Goes to Jail, actor/soloist, Brian Hurst) was just recently released.
He has served as the Music Director for many Musical Productions, such as: Sinbad’s, Son of a Preacher Man (HBO Special), Broadways Hit Show, A Brief History of White Music, The Denver Pepsi Center Gala, The Lion King (Denver Production), Suite Moses (Grand Design), Lady Day (Shadow Theater), Black Swan’s production of Sisters and the Storytellers, the 2007 Josh Groban Tour and Hattie…What I Need You To Know (3G Entertainment).
He has performed with many local Gospel National Recording Artists such as: Yolanda Adams, Brian Hurst, Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, Mary- Mary, Vickie Winans and Fred Hammond just to name a few.
Jeanie D. Draper
Administrative Assistant and Financial Secretary
Mrs. Jeanie D. Draper is a Denver native. She graduated from Montbello High School in 1992 and attended Metropolitan State College. Jeanie joined True Light Baptist Church on April 23, 1989 and was baptized on May 28, 1989. Sheserved on the Youth Usher Board where she held the office of vice president, and she sang in the Youth Choir where she served as the choir’s president, vice-president and Chaplain.
Jeanie married William T. Draper on October 15, 1994 at True Light by Pastor William T. Golson, Jr. She joined True Light’s Adult Choir and Adult Usher Board shortly thereafter. Jeanie became the Children’s Usher Board coordinator in January 2002 until December 2007, and has been a Children’s Church worker since December 2005.
Jeanie joined the full-time staff at True Light Baptist in February of 2007 as the administrative assistant and financial secretary. Her two favorite scriptures are Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” and Philippians 4:13, “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”
Bonne Tootle
Church Clerk and Health Liaison
Bonne Tootle has been a resident of Denver since 1975. She is a retired Bank Loan Officer and presently works at True Light Baptist Church as the church clerk and health liaison. Bonne joined True Light in October 1990 and has been involved in numerous
church activities. She is a deaconess and a very active part of the health ministry, usher board and women’s fellowship.
Bonne married Charles L. Tootle Sr. in 1968 and they have two sons, Walter and Leon. She also has three grandchildren with a fourth on the way
Bonne’ two favorite scriptures are Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble” and Psalm 100:2,3, “Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves, we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.”
Michelle Johnson has been a member of TLBC since June 2000. She is a native of Denver, Colorado and attended Montbello High School and the University of Northern Colorado.
Michelle is a compliance professional with Janus Capital Group Inc. and has worked in the financial services industry for seventeen years.
She is married to Deacon Bruce Johnson and they have two beautiful children.
Michelle is a very active member of our church serving in numerous ministries over the years. In addition to her role as Treasurer, she is also a Deaconess, an Usher and the Coordinator of the Children’s Usher Board. She has served previously as an Announcement Clerk, Nursery Worker and Promotion’s Director for the church’s capital funds campaign.
As the treasurer of TLBC, Michelle is committed to maintaining accurate financial records for the church and for the responsible use of the church’s income.
